Just received the last lot of images from our photographers earlier today. So much fun looking back at happy, familiar faces and re-discovering moments through the stills. The photographers came back with such amazing images that I almost can’t believe that was our wedding. They made me feel like not a moment was missed and almost as if I was peeking through someone else’s looking glass from the outside, in… which in some strange way is true. The venue was split into a few surprise rooms to take our guests on a little journey through the night. The night started in the foyer for cocktail hour, then progressed to dinner in the main hall, followed by cake and speeches in the top floor studio, back to dessert and dancing in the main hall. It’s crazy even thinking about the amount of planning that went into the night that went past just like that. One very fun night with almost everyone tearing up the dance floor by the end that is…

Picking up from the last entry here in the foyer, the black, velvet curtains behind the band began to part, revealing the surprise in the dining hall…

There are no words to describe the joy of having all our favourite people in the world, in a room filled with the most magical decor. Often when I pick elements, be it for a new collection, colours for a lookbook, or the wedding for this matter, I wonder if it will all come together in the end or be a quirky mash, not of the good sort! We were lucky that the all white floral arrangements, cascading flower chandeliers, gold cutlery, clear Ghost chairs, hand-written Wanderlust + Co coloured seating cards (!), plus all the other bits, came together really nicely. Many thanks again to the wonderful girls from Georgeous for breathing life into some pretty mad ideas.
After the last dinner plates were cleared, our guests followed us upstairs to the top floor studio/cake room where speeches and champagne were to be had. The speeches were such a highlight. Luke’s dad has such a way with words and was hilarious as always. Of course, I teared up the moment my dad said it felt just like yesterday that we brought our baby girl home. Luke’s brother and my sister shared amazing, heartwarming words and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house by the time Luke gave his speech.

Whilst we were upstairs for the speeches and champagne, the main hall was being re-set. We wanted something special and interactive for dessert and the after-party, so together with our caterer from Tommy Collins, came up with the idea of changing the room entirely, and making the dessert part of the table decor. The result was making each and everything on the table whimsical, absolutely edible and very Heston Blumenthal. Tommy surprised even us that night… there were classic miniature desserts, imaginative confections shaped into surprising forms and even bubbling, smoking and frothing jars and glasses. Dirt, leaves and nut-like things were scattered around the main desserts, creating an autumn setting. These were all made of chocolate and the nut-like things were truffles! We were really blown away by how it all turned out and couldn’t have imagined a better surprise towards the end of the evening. It was really funny to see our guests kick in and literally eat off the table!

Unsure if it was the sugar or champagne that kicked in, or perhaps a bit of both, but we spent the rest of the night on the dance floor, playing witness to some pretty interesting moves that I can only say were fueled by a happy high? The perfect end to what was the perfect day for us… and that’s how we became Mr + Mrs x
